JRSO’s
Here at Blakesley School we take part in the Junior Road Safety SchemeThis is a government scheme to raise awareness of road safety and give the pupils the
opportunity to become actively involved in all aspects of road safety.
We have two Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO’s) each year, one from Year 5 and one from Year 6.The child from year 5 keeps the position for two years and trains the
newly elected year 5 pupil. The children apply for the position by filling in an application form; an officer is elected along with a small team to assist them.
Their aim is to provide a variety of road safety information to the pupils and school community by holding assemblies, running competitions and safety talks.
There are ten topics to choose from and they put all the work in a folder which is handed over to ****** to be judged at the end of the school year. They also
have a notice board with the various things they do in the school.
This scheme is an excellent way for the children to develop their sense of citizenship, experience working as a team, making decisions and developing their
communication skills.
